PhD length - will my completed thesis be long enough?

I am in the middle of completing my PhD in Philosophy. The structure of my thesis has been agreed with my supervisor - I will have six chapters, so far they are averaging 30 A4 pages each. That is 180 A4 pages, giving around 36,000 words. I was under the impression that a lot of PhDs required around 80,000 words. My supervisor has never commented that I need to write more with any draft chapter I have submitted.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences like this?

I would be grateful for any comments.

I’m aiming for 60k+ which is pretty regular I’m told. I suspect anything less than 50-60k would be discouraged but I’m in the digital communication field so perhaps philosophy is different…
